At first, were excited to hear that we have been shortlisted as one of five finalists for this year’s RIBA Guerrilla Tactics, ‘Live Pitch’.
But we were thrilled to know (after the Live Pitch presentation). That our ‘Team Hive’ was finally a ‘runner up’, gaining the event’s second prize.

David Bellis, Mara Bravo, Tina Frost and Chryssanthi Perpatidou, spoke on behalf of ‘Team Hive’, during the event.

…but, what was ‘Live Pitch’ after all?
The Live Pitch is a unique and hugely popular part of small practice event, Guerrilla Tactics. Aimed at imparting key business skills to help small practice to flourish, this year’s theme ‘Client Perspectives’ gets inside the client’s mind, including taking a cold hard look at how to pitch, giving the opportunity for a small team from your practice to enter a fictional competition to join a framework. Though the competition is fictional, the jury is made up of real industry clients and experts, including representation from the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation itself. This isn’t about design – it’s all about the pitch.
The fictional framework will be used to select architects for exciting and unique individual projects, which are likely to include area frameworks and masterplans, interim use and temporary structures, individual buildings and public realm design.
